RCI TED and GSE to implement a publishable format of students’ theses
To encourage a wider readership of students’ theses and intensify research utilization, RCI will implement a publishable format of students’ theses. This covers turning theses into journal articles, having a Working Paper series, or submitting to local journals for publication.
On February 1, 2016, theses writers from both the Tertiary Education Division (TED) and Graduate School of Education (GSE) underwent a seminar on the use of the American Psychological Association (APA) style at the Seminar Room of RCI Cainta. APA style is a format for academic documents such as journal articles and books. The guidelines were developed to aid reading comprehension in the social and behavioral sciences, for clarity of communication, and for “word choice that at best reduces bias in language.” (Wikipedia)
TED and GSE Dean, Dr. Aldrin Darilag, talked about the importance of publications and how essential it is for a paper to have what he calls the journal impact factor. He discussed the components of the APA style, with examples and references to facilitate understanding. Moreover, he gave specific guidelines in writing publishable articles, including format and structure.
