Teaching-Learning Materials

DON’T LOSE THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ADVANTAGE!

SPEAK, LISTEN and LEARN is designed for Filipino and Asian students because the materials have taken into consideration the linguistic idiosyncrasies of the Asian tongue and have set these idiosyncrasies against  Philippine and Oriental settings and experiences.  It is also effective for college students, tourists, telemarketers, foreign students and entrepreneurs, nurses, caregivers, overseas-based workers and anyone seeking remedial or upgraded conversational skills in English.

SPEAK, LISTEN and LEARN:

  • USES WORDS FOUND IN  CLASSROOM WORK AND EVERYDAY REALITY
  • TEACHES HOW TO SPEAK CLEARLY AND CONFIDENTLY, AND HOW TO   LISTEN FOR UNDERSTANDING
  • FINE-TUNES PRONUNCIATION AND TOTAL USE OF ENGLISH FOR COMMUNICATION
  • USES THE INTERNATIONAL PHONETIC ALPHABET (IPA) SYSTEM FOR PHONETIC TRANSCRIPTION
  • USES PVE, THE DISTINCTPHILIPPINE VARIETY OF ENGLISH WITH ITS CENTRAL TRADITION OF AMERICAN ENGLISH LANGUAGE

These Teaching Learning Materials are being shared with Roosevelt College students from Prep to High School levels since SY2003 through the network of the RC System of Speech Labs:

SPEAK, LISTEN and LEARN, series of lessons for Basic Education: Prep Level, Grade 1 to 6, and First – Fourth Year High School was written by selected RCS Teachers and taped at the RCS Recording Studio, and developed and tested in the Roosevelt College five Speech laboratories for two years before publication and use.  This project was supervised and directed by the ELTC academic staff: Dr. Alejandro J. Casambre, Dr. Nelia G. Casambre and Prof. Sonia J. Valenciano.

These instructional materials for Prep and each Grade/Year level consist of a Teaching-Learning Manual, a Sourcebook for student use, and ten CD’s for twenty recorded lessons.  Voice talent was provided by Dr. Patricio B. Lazaro and Directress Lourdes B. Quiogue, Filipino educated speakers of English who are easily understood and imitated by Asian learners and very well understood locally, regionally, and globally.
