Roosevelt College Tertiary administrators, Mrs. Cora Labrado, OIC Librarian, Mrs. Elsa Tuazon, Guidance Counselor, and Mr. Metodio Arroyo, Business Administration faculty joined the repacking for the survivors of Yolanda held last Nov.10, 2013 at Red Cross Drop off center in Mandaluyong City.

With them are other volunteer students from other schools who took time to be of help to Red Cross, Marikina Chapter.

Mrs. Flordeliza S. Dizon, Directress of RC Marikina, has announced the celebration of Mathematics Week from December 2 to 4, 2013, by the Roosevelt College Marikina, High School Education Department.

From 2:00 to 4:30 pm, December 2, the following activities will be held:

  • Kick-Off activities
  • Video presentation
  • Dance presentation
  • Fraction Bingo

On December 3, the following will take place:

  • Seminar sponsored by Marikina’s Lion’s Club for 3rd and 4th year students
  • Film Viewing by Grade 7 students
  • Calculator Game by Grade 8 students

From 1:00 to 3:00 pm on December 3, 2013, the High School Education Department will celebrate the Culminating Activities of Mathematics Week.

On November 27, 2013, RC Rodriguez will offer a Thanksgiving Mass at 1:00 p.m. and hold an Awarding Ceremony at 2:00 p.m. at its Function Hall.

President Romeo P Dela Paz is set to award plaques and certificates of recognition to service awardees among the faculty members and administrative staff of RC Rodriguez.

The 10-year service award will be conferred on Mr. Eduardo O. Jamolino, maintenance staff. The school dentist, Dr. Marnie E. Jose, will receive the 15-year service award, and so will Mrs. Jovelyn S. Bulanon, faculty member, Elementary Education Department.

The 20-year service award will be received by Mrs. Maria Teresa S. Angeles, Principal of the Elementary Education Department; Mrs. Rhodora F. Adriano, faculty member, Elementary Education Department; and Mr. Felipe A. Mallabo, faculty member, English, High School Education Department.

To receive the 25-year service award are the following: Mrs. Rosana D. Alarilla, faculty, Science, High School Education Department; Mrs. Anna Belle D. Estanislao, faculty, English, High School Education Department; Mrs. Mercedita P. Macapia, maintenance staff; and Mrs. Cherryl P. Tagle, faculty, Mathematics, High School Education Department.

Five faculty and staff members will receive the 30-year service award. They are Mr. Pablo E. Asuncion, faculty, TLE/ICT, High School Education Department; Miss Marie Grace M. Azurin, faculty, Mathematics, High School Education Department, Mrs. Elenita R. Javier, Clerk in the Director’s Office; Mr. Avelino L. Santos, faculty, Mathematics, High School Education Department; and Mrs. Delia M. Vicente, Faculty, TLE/ICT, High School Education Department.

For 35 years of service in the institution, Mrs. Rosana F. Salvador, Faculty, High School Education Department, will receive a plaque of recognition.

Mrs. Clemencia G. Rico, School Registrar is the solo awardee for 45 years of service in the Roosevelt College System.

Mrs. Rico, representing all the awardees, will deliver the response after the Service Awards have been granted.

Two other groups will receive awards on this day.

Successful alumni of RC Rodriguez, namely, Arlene C. Villanueva, M.D.; Ryan A. Moria, M.D.; and Harvey C. Tan will each receive a Certificate of Recognition.

In addition, Certificates of Recognition will be received by Alumni Achievers, and they are Co-Neil R. Relato, M.D.; John Lorenz B. Ramirez; and Lorenz Cristoffer S. Marasigan.

Special awardees will be announced on the day of the ceremony.

President Romeo P. Dela Paz will deliver a message of inspiration after all the awards have been received by the awardees.

The Masters of Ceremonies will be Mrs. Zenaid B. Sabater and Mr. Felipe A. Mallabo.

Merienda Cena will be served after the ceremony.


With the theme: “RCC-BED: Resilient to Change; Commitment Bound; Enthusiastically Dedicated”, the RC Cainta Basic Education Division held its Palarong Pangkaibigan 2013 in the school grounds on November 21 and 22, 2013.

The Opening Ceremony on November 21 began with the Parade of Athletes led by Mrs. Carlota Y. Casalme, Guidance Counselor, SED. This was followed by the raising of the Philippine Flag be Miss Lourdes B. Quigue, Directress, SED, Administrative Supervisor, RC Cainta Complex, with Miss Roosevelt College, Cainta, SED. The Roosevelt College Colors were raised by Mrs. Crisanta S. Motos, Principal, Elementary Education Department, Miss Lucita L. Alcid, Principal, RC Science High School, with Miss Roosevelt College Cainta, EED, and Miss RC Science High School.

Then, the Palarong Pangkaibigan Standard was presented by Mr. Fernando P. Jorge, Jr., Chairman, Palarong Pangkaibigan 2013 and Miss Palarong Pangkaibigan 2013, with the RC Drum and Bugle Corps under the leadership of Mr. Alexander Lipat.

The Welcome Greetings were delivered by Mrs. Penelope B. Mercado, Academic Supervisor, SED, followed by the Formal Declaration of the Opening of the Games by Miss Lourdes B. Quiogue.

Organizational Colors were raised by organizational advisers and muses, together with the release of balloons by organizational advisers with all the teachers of RC Cainta BED.

All the athletes recited the Oath of Sportsmanship led by Mr. Fernando P. Jorge, Jr., General Referee of the games.

Mr. Carl Michael J. Angel and Miss Erika C. Comendador were the Masters of Ceremony of the Opening Program.

Games began immediately after the Opening Ceremony.

In support of the project “YES FOR PEACE 2013, para sa Kapayapaan, Kaunlaran, Kasaganahan (KKK)”, Guidance for Higher Educational Institutions (HEI/S), the questionnaire “Yes 4 Peace 2013” was answered by 200 students from the Tertiary Education Division (TED) of Roosevelt College System. Mrs. Elsa Tuazon, TED Guidance Counselor, submitted the results of the questionnaire on November 14, 2013.

The results are as follows:

Question: Dapat po bang itigil and mga labanan sa pagitan ng goyerno at ng mga armadong grupo ngayong 2013?

Results: Out of the 200 respondents, 190 or 95% answered YES while the remaining 10 or 5% answered NO.

Question: Dapat po bang umpisahan na ang peace talks kahit saan ditto sa Pilipinas sa halip na sa ibang bansa upang masaksihan nating lahat bago mag-Pask ngayong 2013?

Results: Out of the 200 respondents, 196 or 98% answered YES while the remaining 4 or 2% answered NO.

Question: Dapat bo bang mag-Bayanihan tayong lahat para sa kapayapaan, kaunlaran at kasaganahan simula ngayon?

Results: One hundred percent or all of the respondents answered a resounding YES.

The survey was conducted in cooperation with Ms. Angelique Pearl M. Avena, President of the Managers Club, Ms. Gemmily I. Balili, President of the Central Student Council, and Mrs. Jose A. Blanza, Adviser.

Mrs. Laura M. Motos led the RC Marikina EED in celebration of two events: Mathematics/Science Week in September 2013 and United Nations Day on October 24, 2013.

During Math/Science Week, the EED had a Science Exhibit and a Math/Science Quiz Bee for Grades 1 to 3 and for Grades 4 to 6.

Math/Science Trivia were printed inside the classrooms and bulletin boards in the corridors of the school.

On United Nations Day, October 24, information was posted on the walls outside the classroom with a specific country assigned to each room or section. A Parade of Nations was held, with the students wearing costumes of different countries. The Parade of Nations was included in the Fashion Show held on the same day in celebration of the 48th Founding Anniversary of RC Marikiina.


Dean Concesa V. Oandasan, RN, MAN, PhD, attended a meeting called by the Commission on Higher Education, CHED, in September 2013.

Important matters were discussed and agreed upon by the deans present at the meeting.

The first item agreed upon was the formation of The Federation of Professional Associations of Region IV-A (FEDPAR), representing 19 professional associations in the region. Dr. Felixberto M. Mercado, PhD, was elected first President of FEDPAR.

FEDPAR will hold its first Research Summit with the theme “Unifying Researches in Region IV-A CALABARZON towards Global Standards on November 20 to 22, 2013, at the Lyceum of the Philippines, General Trias Campus, Cavite. The summit aims to promote discussions and exchanges of new ideas, information, and discoveries among those who will attend the summit. Contents of this seminar will be the focus of CHED monitoring beginning January 2014.

In connection with the research summit, the President of the Association of Deans Region IV (ADPACN) asked for research papers to be presented by the association as it has been asked to present five papers.

Dean Concesa V. Oandasan, Assistant Dean Geraldine Guiyab, and two other faculty members of INHE have been designated to attend the forthcoming Research Summit.

With regard to students, a Student Congress is being planned to be held in Lucena City on December and this is now in the planning stage.

This year, the Institute of Liberal Arts is sponsoring a Photography Contest for everyone in TED to join. The theme of the contest is “More than just a selfie…Capture. Join. Smile.”

Contest Mechanics are as follows:

  1. All college students of Roosevelt College System (Cainta and Marikina) may join the contest.
  1. The photograph must depict the theme of the contest, “More than just a selfie”, showing the things/people/events that make you smile.
  1. All entries must be in digital form and must be emailed to, with the subject title “Photography Contest – (your name)”, on or before 3 o’clock in the afternoon on November 22, 2013. Include a caption for your photo, your complete name, course and contact number. Entries submitted beyond the deadline will automatically be disqualified.
  1. Each participant can only submit one entry.
  1. All entries must be an original material taken by the participant and should not include watermarks, signatures, frames, date and/or time stamp or any other markings on the photo.
  1. Digital manipulation is not allowed. Enhancements must be limited to basic post-processing such as adjustments of contrast, minimal color-balancing, sharpening, and cropping.
  1. Official entries shall be uploaded to the Liberal Arts Society Facebook page (
  1. Ask your friends to LIKE your entry. Each Facebook LIKE counts as one (1) vote. The photo with the most number of likes, wins. VOTING PERIOD IS FROM NOVEMBER 23 – 25, 2013.

The Institute of Liberal Arts will be celebrating the ILA Week from November 25-26, 2013, with the theme “ILA: Amplified”. This two-day event will feature different booths (i.e., bargain/ukay-ukay booth, freedom wall booth and photo booth), a film showing activity, a game show entitled “Fam-ILA Feud” (inspired by the original Family Feud), and a photography contest.

We are inviting you (and your Institute) to visit and try the services of the booths, and to see the Institute’s film showing and join our contests (Fam-ILA and Photography) to satiate your entertainment needs. The booths will start their operations at 1:00 p.m. onwards.
