The High School and Elementary Departments of RC Marikina kicked off the celebrations for Nutrition Month 2013 with a school parade and program on July 1, 2013.
The parade and program featured healthy boys and girls from each grade level. Vitamin samples of Profan TLC (vitamins for children) were distributed to students and parents who were present during the activity. Other activities are scheduled for the whole month, which will end with a culminating activity on July 31, 2013.
The celebration of Teachers’ and Employees’ Day in Roosevelt College System will be held from December 21 to 23, 2013. The venue will be the Teachers’ Camp in Baguio City. The Chairperson for this year’s celebration is Mrs. Carmencita V. Alcantara.
Other members of the Teachers’ and Employees’ Day Committee are Mr. Fernando P. Jorge, Vice Chairperson; Mr. Roberto C. Ybanez, Participation; Mr. Elmer C. Del Rosario, Billeting; Mrs. Raquel Jocson, Finance; Mr. Benjamin S. Bernardo, Transportation; and Dr. Val A. Barcinal, Health and Safety.
Faculty and Non-Teaching Personnel of Roosevelt College System, including affiliated institutions are given the privilege to participate in this year’s celebration. They may enlist by submitting a Letter of Intent (LOI) to the Participation Committee, through their respective school heads on or before December 3, 2013. Only LOIs signed by the school head concerned will be considered by the Participation Committee.
The school will provide free transportation to and from Baguio City. Assembly time is 11:00 p.m. at the RC Marikina Campus. Buses will depart at exactly 12 midnight on December 21. Departure from Baguio City is at 1:00 p.m. on December 23, 2013. Those who do not plan to join the trip back to Marikina and wish to travel back on their own beyond December 23 must notify their respective school heads before December 21, 2013.
Each one shall be given food allowance for two days during the stay in Baguio City. Participants will be free to organize their own activities while enjoying the cool weather of Baguio.
On January 11-17, 2013, RC Marikina Elementary Education Department hosted the 27th Korea Scout Exchange Program between Incheon City (Korea) and Marikina City (Philippines). The delegation from Incheon City was headed by Executive Director Mr. Kim Bong Hyun and International Commissioner Mrs. Kweon Ok Ran of the Incheon City Council Korea Scout Association. Members of the delegation consisted of 8 leaders and 24 Korean Scouts.
Marikina City Mayor Del R. De Guzman welcomed the Korean delegation at a dinner in Marikina City’s Kapitan Moy Restaurant. RC Marikina’s Management Team and teachers were present at the dinner. The President of Roosevelt College System, Mr. Romeo P. Dela Paz, welcomed the group to the school. DepEd officials, and scout officials from Metro Manila East Council and Marikina Scout Council were also guests at the dinner, which was coordinated by Mr. Rudy Adriano, Chairman of the Boy Scout’s Metro Manila East Council.
Mr. Jayson Carag, Mrs.Rosalia dela Rosa from the Elementary Department and Mrs. Joy Magat from the High School Department were assigned to lead the group. Meanwhile, English teachers who were assigned to teach English to the Korean Boy Scouts were Mrs. Jennifer Rempis, Mrs. Lea Futo and Mrs. Marisol Francisco from the Elementary Department, and Dr. Nimfa Castro, Mrs. Lilia M. Braga and Mrs. Victorina B. Dineros from the High School Department.
On June 28, 2013, RC Marikina’s teachers and advisers conducted the Parents’ Orientation Program in the respective classrooms by grade level.
Classes for School Year 2013 – 2014 began on June 5, 2013, without a hitch at RC Marikina. The management team, staff, and teachers welcomed the students with warm smiles. On the 2nd day of school, the Guidance Counsellor and the Librarian of the Elementary Education Department conducted an orientation program for the students during which they discussed school rules and regulations, expectations, and other important reminders.
