Welcome to Roosevelt College if you are a new student; welcome back if you are an old one. Whatever may be the case, I hope the new school year will open new doors for you to become a better person.
As you perhaps know by now, Roosevelt College is under new management. The new board of trustees of Roosevelt College, Inc., has appointed me president of Roosevelt College, Ms Gillian Joyce Virata the vice-president for academic affairs, and Ms Rosanna Salcedo the vice-president for finance. All three of us, I believe, are well prepared for our posts. I serve concurrently as president of Far Eastern University (FEU); Ms Virata was executive director of Philippine Women’s University’s Jose Abad Santos Memorial School (JASMS), Manila and Quezon City, as well as of its Girls’ High School; and Ms Salcedo is the treasurer of FEU.
We, the newbies, are very excited to join the Roosevelt College community and in awe of its venerable 80-year history. We want to make good on the promise to deliver affordable quality education to Roosevelt students. But to do so, we need to get to know Roosevelt College, including its institutional aspirations, missions and vision, and history as well as its stakeholders such as students and their parents, the faculty and staff, and the communities in which Roosevelt College schools are located. Then we will have to develop comprehensive plans. In the meantime, we seek your understanding, patience, and support. Rest assured, that improvements are forthcoming, perhaps not all at once, but in measured steps.
Thank you for your time. Again, welcome (back) to Roosevelt College!
Michael M. Alba, Ph.D.
President, Roosevelt College Inc.
