ROOSEVELT COLLEGE MARIKINA HOLDS EARTHQUAKE DRILL

Mrs. Flordeliza S. Dizon, School Directress and Administrative Supervisor of RC Marikina, declared July 2, 2014, as Annual Earthquake Drill Day.

Mr. Angelito S. Lerit chaired this event. Preparations before the actual drill were held in earnest, including meetings among the Faculty Members and Non-Teaching Personnel, who were given background information on the goals and objectives of the Earthquake Drill. Mrs. Joy Magat gave thorough instructions to Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts on how they will assist the students and personnel during the earthquake drill. The clinic staff was alerted to be ready in case of any emergency during event.

On the day of the Earthquake Drill, the scouts were posted on the door of each classroom, prepared to lead the students toward the designated exits. The security guards were also stationed on the stairways to assist the students.

Before the morning recess, the bell rang intermittently for ten counts. The students filed out of their classrooms in good order after the tenth ring. They were led by the scouts to the designated safety area in the quadrangle. Senior Scouts retrieved the ‘casualties’ in the third floor by using the stretchers.

The whole operation took one minute and 36 seconds.

While on the quadrangle, Mrs. Flordeliza S. Dizon delivered a short talk during which she took note of some problems encountered during the drill and the solutions to these problems.

At 9:35 a.m., the school returned to its normal class hours.

Balik Eskwela: A Fresh Start for Exciting Educational Experiences in RC Cainta EED

June 4, 2014, Monday, marked the start of another school year. The occasion was significant as Mr. Jason C. Carlos started his new assignment as Officer-in-Charge of the Roosevelt College Cainta Elementary Education Department. This is a promise of another year of excitement, with everyone looking forward to the new start with great aspirations and enthusiasm under Mr. Carlos’ leadership.

Pupils started to contact their classmates and their teachers. Finally the first day of classes started with new uniforms, new friends, new school administrator, and many more new discoveries.

The first day of classes was very noisy because the pupils were all talking about their experiences during the past summer vacation. But, one thing was sure, as they stepped inside the classroom, every step they took came with drops of excitement flowing in their veins, and questions were arising in their minds. Who will be my seatmate? Who will be my new adviser? Are my friends still here? It was certain that they anticipated the school activities and club projects. With this new academic year comes a new chapter and excitements in school. Being back to school is fun and still learning takes place, for sure.

Welcome to another enjoyable journey of academic year 2014-2015!

RC Cainta EED Hold Parents’ Orientation 2014

Roosevelt College Cainta, Elementary Education Department, headed by Mr. Jason C. Carlos – the new Officer-
in-Charge, conducted its Parents’ Orientation Program on June 26, 2014, at the lobby of the school building. Mr

Carlos gave an inspiring and challenging talk as he welcomed all the parents present at the meeting.

A record 81.77% attendance of parents broke the previous records of previous RCEED orientations in

Cainta. This was a true manifestation of the warm support and cooperation of the parents toward the new

management team.

The program was divided into three sets. The first set was for the new parents (transferees). This was held

from 7:15 to 9:30 a.m. The second set was for the parents of the returning pupils, held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The last set, which was held from 1:15 to 3:00 p.m., was for parents with children in the scholar sections. The

set up was done in order to address the different concerns of the parents; thus, parents were given a chance to

ask questions during the open forum. Important matters were discussed in each set: school house rules, K-12

curriculum, and the grading system.

Entertainment was provided by some selected Grade 4 pupils who exhibited their skills in dance. Ms. Josh delos

Reyes provided an enthusiastic energizer, which added fun to the event.

It was indeed a successful and fruitful occasion!

Month of June is known to be the Orientation month for schools. During this month, RC school started the different orientation programs that will surely help our pupils and parents for another fruitful year at Roosevelt College Cainta Elementary School Department.

June 16, 2014 was scheduled for the Transferees’ Orientation which was held at the newly opened Elementary Education Department’s Conference Room. The said program was divided into three parts; grades 4-6 am session, grades 1-3 and grades 4-6 pm session. On the next day, June 17, 2014 was the orientation for old pupils. Compared to the Transferees’ Orientation, the program for the old pupils was shorter but it was also divided into three parts. This was held at the Elementary Education Department’s lobby. The two days orientation was administered by Mrs. Aureeh Faith DC. Acedillo, department’s guidance counselor. It was indeed as informative day for pupils to revisit the House Rules and further understand their obligations as member of the school community.
